1. Clean the chain
Before applying wax lubricant, thoroughly clean the chain from dirt, old lubricant and contaminants. Best to use a specialized chain cleaner (e.g. OC1 Chain Cleaner or Bicycle Cleaner) and a brush. The cleaner the chain, the better the lubricant will adhere and protect the surface. Make sure the chain is completely dry before lubricant application.
2. Shake the bottle
Before use, shake the bottle thoroughly for a few seconds so the wax lubricant ingredients mix evenly. This is crucial for proper product performance – the formula must be homogeneous to ensure optimal protection.
3. Apply lubricant to each chain link
Holding the bottle upright, apply one drop of lubricant to each chain roller – preferably from the inside (where the chain contacts the sprockets). 4. Let the lubricant penetrate and dry
After applying the lubricant, rotate the pedals several times to evenly distribute the product across all rollers and chain surfaces. 5. Remove excess lubricant
After drying, wipe the chain with a clean, dry cloth to remove excess lubricant from external surfaces. This way you ensure the protective layer is where it's needed – inside the chain – and there's nothing on the outside that could attract dirt.
6. Ready to ride

Application temperature – the product works best at temperatures from 10°C to 30°C. On colder days you can slightly warm the bottle in your hands before application.

Avoid application on brakes and disc – if lubricant gets on brake pads or disc, immediately clean the surface with brake cleaner. Lubricant on brakes is a risk of losing braking power.

Can I use this lubricant on a motorcycle chain?
OC1 Chain Lube Wax was designed primarily for bicycles. For motorcycles we recommend specialized lubricants from the OC1 motorcycle series, which are adapted to higher rotational speeds and greater loads. Motorcycle chain requires a more resistant formula, which you'll find in products such as OC1 Chain Lube (aerosol 500ml, SKU: B102/500).
How often should I lubricate the chain with this product?

After riding in rain or through mud, the chain should be cleaned, dried and relubricated. Good rule: if the chain starts creaking or working loudly, that's a sign it needs fresh lubricant.
Can I mix dry wax lubricant with wet lubricant?
We don't recommend mixing different lubricant types. If you want to change lubricant type (e.g. from wet to wax), first thoroughly clean the chain with chain cleaner, dry it and only then apply new lubricant. Mixing lubricants can lead to reduced protection effectiveness and dirt attraction.
Is this lubricant safe for modern 12-speed systems?
Yes, OC1 Chain Lube Wax is fully compatible with modern drivetrain systems, including 11, 12 and 13-speed. It doesn't damage seals, cables or brake pads. It works safely with every chain type and material, including carbon fiber, anodized aluminum, steel and titanium.
How long does the lubricant stay on the chain?
Durability depends on conditions. In dry conditions one application lasts for 100-200 km of riding or approximately 5-10 trips. After riding in rain the wax layer may be partially washed out, therefore we recommend relubrication after riding in wet conditions.
Will this lubricant work when riding on sand and dust?
Absolutely yes – this is one of the most important advantages of dry wax lubricant. Unlike wet oils that attract sand and turn into abrasive paste, the wax formula stays dry and doesn't combine with contaminants. Even if dust settles on the chain, it can be easily wiped off with a dry cloth.
