MXGP - the world championship where every detail counts

The FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP) is the premier league of motocross. The best riders, the fastest machines, and tracks demanding absolute perfection. This is an event where there's no room for chance — every element must work flawlessly. For years, OC1 has been the official technical partner of MXGP, supporting riders and teams with products proven in the most challenging conditions.

MXGP — the world elite of motocross

The Motocross World Championship series comprises 20 rounds at the best tracks across Europe, Asia, and both Americas. Every weekend features two races where riders battle for points in the overall classification. The prize is the World Champion title.

MXGP (formerly MX1) — the premier class with four-stroke motorcycles up to 450cc. The category for the most experienced, where speed, tactics, and physical endurance count. Races last 30 minutes plus two laps.

MX2 — the youth class with four-stroke motorcycles up to 250cc. A talent factory where young riders (up to 23 years old) compete for promotion to MXGP. The level is exceptionally high.

Why is MXGP a unique spectacle?

MXGP is a battle against the track, weather, and rivals simultaneously. Tracks are naturally shaped, with climbs, descents, ruts, and jumps. After each pass, the track changes — ruts become deeper, the surface more unpredictable.

The start is a crucial moment. 40 riders launch simultaneously, fighting for position into the first corner. Physical demands are extreme — 35 minutes at full throttle with heart rate at 180–190 beats per minute. The track evolves during the race — riders must constantly adapt their riding technique.

MXGP teams and partnership with OC1

For three years, OC1 has been the official technical partner of the MXGP series. Our products support the top teams: Factor Racing, BUD Kawasaki, Dream Team Fantic Racing, Triumph Racing Team, and Yamaha Racing Supported Team. For them, equipment reliability is fundamental — a single technical problem can ruin an entire round.

Collaboration with MXGP teams means real testing in the most challenging conditions. If a product performs in the paddock through rain, mud, and dust over an entire race weekend — we know it will perform anywhere.

The MXGP paddock — logistics at the highest level

Every MXGP team operates mobile workshops in trucks and paddock awnings. After each race, motorcycles are completely cleaned and serviced. That's hundreds of hours of work throughout the season. Mud, dust, oil — everything must be removed quickly and effectively.

OC1 supplies the MXGP series with products for cleaning trucks, awnings, and paddock infrastructure. OC1 Offroad Cleaner and OC1 Universal Cleaner help teams maintain a professional appearance even after the most challenging, muddy rounds. A clean, well-maintained paddock signals to sponsors and media that a team operates professionally.

Motorcycle care in MXGP conditions

After each race, motorcycles undergo comprehensive maintenance. This is professional servicing where every component is checked and prepared for the next start.

Cleaning is the first step. A motorcycle after 35 minutes of riding is covered with a layer of mud, sand, and dirt that must be removed quickly. Mechanics use professional products that dissolve dirt without damaging plastics, graphics, and metal components. In the MXGP paddock, speed and effectiveness count — teams have limited time between races.

The air filter is replaced after each race. In MXGP conditions, the amount of dust and sand in the air is enormous. OC1 Air Filter Cleaner effectively removes old oil and contamination without damaging the delicate foam structure or the adhesive joining filter elements. After cleaning and drying, the filter is oiled with OC1 Air Filter Oil — an essential product in professional motocross. The aerosol formula with its characteristic green colour allows you to see whether the entire surface has been covered, creating a waterproof barrier that traps the finest particles.

The drive chain requires particular attention. Extreme loads during acceleration and landings, sand, mud, and water — all of this shortens its lifespan. After each race, the chain is cleaned and lubricated. OC1 Chain Lube Off-Road is resistant to water and mud, remaining on the chain throughout the race. It minimises friction, translating to smoother drivetrain operation and reduced wear on both chain and sprockets.

The MX2 class — where champions are born

The MX2 class is where we observe future MXGP champions. The age limit (23 years) means riders must prove themselves quickly. 250cc motorcycles offer sufficient power for spectacular riding whilst maintaining controllability. They're lighter than 450cc machines, translating to better manoeuvrability.

Technology and care in MXGP

Modern motocross motorcycles are advanced machines with adjustable suspension and electronics. But even the best technology requires care. Professional teams know that maintenance is an investment in reliability. That's why they choose products proven in extreme conditions — like the OC1 range used by MXGP teams.
